An Avita Medtest medical assistant or phlebotomist will gently draw the necessary amount of blood or collect any other appropriate biological specimen needed for the specific test, label it appropriately, complete needed paperwork or chain-of-custody documentation, and send it to our accredited/certified laboratory partner for analysis. Test results will be delivered back to the location where the test was purchased, and if you request, they will contact you to advise your test results are ready for pick-up or other approved method of delivery. Most test results are available within 24 – 72 business hours after specimen collection.
Avita Medtest empowers you to Take Control of Your Health®. Many illnesses and diseases can be identified and prevented by managing your healthcare proactively, and working with your physician when test results are out of the normal range. Knowing the results of your tests can help you make educated decisions that can ultimately improve the quality of your life. Depending on the type of test, test results can also answer social questions, from paternity to drug abuse, and allow tested parties to better evaluate their next decision steps.
The results are in an easy‐to‐read format that clearly states if the test is within the normal range, positive or negative; or in matters of family relationship DNA testing, the statistical probability of relationship. You are encouraged to share your test results with your physician if the results are not within the normal range.
No. Avita Medtest makes every effort to keep our customers satisfied while providing excellent service in delivering the tests you have requested. Once the test has been collected and sent to the laboratory, we will be unable to provide you with a refund. A draw center is a location where a test is ordered, the specimen is collected, proper paperwork completed, then sent to the appropriate laboratory testing. Avita Medtest is a draw center.
Avita Medtest follows all HIPAA guidelines and state regulations regarding distribution of test results. You will have immediate access to your results through our patient portal. You can choose to have your test results mailed, faxed or come by to pick them up. Written consent is required to provide a copy of your test results to any party other than you. Confidentiality and discretion are of the utmost importance to Avita Medtest.
Avita Medtest is able to e-mail certain lab test results to our customers. We must follow all HIPAA guidelines and state regulations regarding distribution of test results. All release of records must have a signed authorization from the consenting individual before results are released in any matter. Tests such as HIV are not allowed to be sent via e-mail or fax due to federal regulations and need to be picked up in person.
No appointment is necessary. However, scheduling an appointment can be beneficial. The medical assistant will have all the proper supplies and documents ready and waiting for your visit; thereby, reducing any wait time to get you back to your daily activities quickly. You can easily find a store location in your community, call or schedule an appointment online.
We know your time is valuable. Most of our customers are in and out in 15 minutes or less, unless a specialized test is ordered where specimens must be collected within specific time ranges or in cases where the donor is unable to provide a specimen at the time of collection, such as during a urine drug test.
No. Each of our store locations has a physician that oversees the testing performed and test results. However, your physician can send you with a formal order for lab tests and we’ll be happy to fulfill that also.
If you have any questions regarding the details, application or components of a test, feel free to ask the staff person at the location where the test was ordered. Avita Medtest does not interpret test results, diagnose or treat. If you are concerned or wish to discuss the results of your lab test, we encourage you to call your physician.
